Massagey and fried?
So grocery shopping here in Korea is not the same as going to Randall's/Tom Thumb back home..you either go to the HUGE Home Plus or the little family mart on the corner... either way you can't buy much cuz you have to carry whatever you purchase home... no luxury of a trunk or even a car... so anyways. I resigned myself to finally buying salt and butter... and my mother gave me a cucumber slicer she bought for like a dollar on the subway so I can give myself facials with cucumber slices...so I got some cucumbers as well...
The guy who was at the register looked at the cucumbers and salt... he pointed to them both and he said, "oh! make chigae?" chigae is a korean soup, I've yet to actually consume it... so then I said, "no no" and I point to the cucumbers and point to my face and go "aaaah" and then I point to the salt and mime cracking an egg and I give him the little "sizzle" sound and then pretend I've got a salt shaker in my hand and shake vigorously... he kind of looks at me for a minute and then goes, "massage-ey and fried?" to which I say, "yes yes!" and then he laughs and gives me my change.
It's everyone's biznass to know your biznass here in Korea
